Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber: What's Up With That Ring ?

Justin Bieber is smart enough to know Selena Gomez is quite a catch—but did he just put a ring on her finger?

Gomez shared this photo of her hand with an extra sparkly "J" ring holding Bieber's hand via Instagram with the caption, "I'm finally home :)"

Um, so what's the dealio?

Unfortunately, we don't know whether it's a promise ring or a Valentine's Day gift or something else entirely.
But whatever the ring does or doesn't mean, we're pretty jealous of all the love going on here (oh, and those beautiful flowers).

Though Gomez and Bieber seem to be going strong, the lady singer did have to part ways with a few loved ones recently.

"my band and I are going our separate ways for a while," Selena wrote on her Facebook page. "This year is all about films and acting and I want my band to play music wherever with whoever. We will be back but, it will be a good while. I love them and I love you guys :)"

Pop Stars, Whitney Houston dies aged 48

Two loud booms jolted awake the music industry executive in her fifth-floor room of the Beverly Hilton hotel.

The time was 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The thuds seemed to be coming from the room below. The voice of a man, loud and urgent, followed.

It was only later that she learned the news: Whitney Houston, a guest in the room below hers, had died.

Cause of death: Unclear.

Time pronounced: 3:55 p.m., February 11, 2012.

Age: A mere 48.

The shock and grief from fans worldwide was immediate: Houston's pipes and presence, her grit and glamour had made her an icon.

For a decade and a half, she ruled the charts: 170 million albums sold, including seven back-to-back multi-platinum ones.

Numerous No. 1 hits, including the biggest-selling U.S. single of all time, "I Will Always Love You."

Emmys, Grammys, Billboard Music awards. Dozens of them.

While her luster dimmed in recent years as she battled drug addiction, Houston was in the midst of a comeback. A few shows here and there, mostly abroad, and a movie in the works.

She had appeared healthy and beautiful in recent days, said the music executive -- who did not want to be identified because she didn't want reporters hounding her.

Just days before, the exec had seen Houston swimming in the hotel pool with daughter Bobbi Kristina. They looked happy, she said.

What exactly happened Saturday afternoon now awaits a coroner's examination.

Police and fire officials were called to Houston's room at 3:43 p.m., after Houston's bodyguard found her unconscious body.

Medics tried reviving her, but failed.

There were "no obvious signs of criminal intent," said Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen.

Medics removed her body from the hotel room early Sunday morning and an autopsy has been scheduled.

But the county coroner's office could not say when.

"I just can't talk about it now. It's so stunning and unbelievable," said singer Aretha Franklin on hearing the news. "I couldn't believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen."

Saturday night, fans mourned Houston's death in different ways inside and outside the Beverly Hilton.

Grief flows at hotel where Houston died

Outside, grieving fans laid roses and flickering candles on the front and back entrances of the sprawling complex.

Some sang songs. Others played her music videos on their smartphone.

"Everyone has their own demons, and some overcome them and some never do," said Tya Conerly, referring to Houston's history of drug abuse. "Sometimes life gets the best of us."

Inside the hotel, music industry's biggest names gathered in elegant attire for an annual pre-Grammy party that had been long planned by Houston's mentor, Clive Davis.

"I do have a heavy heart, and I am personally devastated by someone so close to me for so many years," Davis told the gathering of artists and entertainers, that included Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight and Britney Spears.

"My heart goes out to her daughter Bobbi Kristina and her mother, Cissy."

He then asked for a moment of silence.

"We dedicate this evening to her," he said.

Stunned celebrities mourn Whitney Houston

Houston had been scheduled to attend the festivities. She had performed as late as Thursday night at a pre-Grammy event in the area, a raspy rendition "Jesus Loves Me" with singer Kelly Price.

The organizers of Sunday's Grammy Awards said they have retooled the show to pay respect to Houston, with the help of singer Jennifer Hudson.

"It's going to be something respectful," said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the show. "It's not going to be a full-blown tribute. That's too early and it's too fresh at this moment. It's going to be something respectful to Whitney's memory."

But musician Paul Shaffer said he thinks the whole show will double as a tribute to Houston.

"Here is music's happiest night combined with such a sad note," he said. "You got to be some kind of philosopher to make some kind of sense out of this. I certainly can't."

Houston was born in Newark, New Jersey, on August 9, 1963, the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston.

Her cousin was Dionne Warwick; her godmother Aretha Franklin.

"You couldn't find a more auspicious template for great expectations," said music critic Gene Seymour.

In the mid-1980s, Davis spotted Houston in a New York nightclub and signed her on the spot.

For the next quarter century, he steered her career and served as her mentor.

"I saw a depth and a range and soul ... that rarely ranks at the top level," he said Thursday. "And that's why we've been working together ever since."

Houston's career: A regal rise, a tragic fall

Her string of Billboard No. 1 hits included "Saving All My Love for You," "How Will I Know," "The Greatest Love of All," "Where Do Broken Hearts Go," and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)."

In 1991, Houston's commanding performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl, just days into the first Persian Gulf War, electrified audiences and became the gold standard for performing the national anthem, according to many music critics.

The next year, she released the soundtrack to her movie "The Bodyguard," one of the top 10 biggest-selling albums of all time.

Her cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" for the soundtrack has been interpreted by many but rarely duplicated.

TIME.com: Houston's ten most memorable songs

She appeared in several more films in the 1990s, including "Waiting to Exhale."

In 2000, Houston earned her sixth Grammy for best female R&B performance and, a month later, she was named female artist of the decade at the "Soul Train" Music Awards.

But by then, her battle with drugs -- cocaine and marijuana -- and her tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown were taking their toll.

The couple appeared together in the mid-2000s on the reality show "Being Bobby Brown," and had one child together, Bobbi Kristina.

HLNtv.com: What about Bobbi Kristina Brown?

In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston recalled how her mother arrived one day at her doorstep with sheriff's officers and a court order in a drug intervention.

"(My mother) says, 'I have a court (injunction) here,'" Houston said. "Either you do it my way, or we're just not going to do this at all. We are both going to go on TV, and you're going to retire.'"

She entered rehab and took a long hiatus. Her 2009 release, "I Look To You," was her first in seven years.

"I just took a break, which sometimes you have to," Houston said. "You have to know when to slow that train down and kind of just sit back and relax for a minute."

TIME.com: Houston's life in photos

She recently returned to a movie set for "Sparkle," a remake of the 1976 hit that was loosely based on the story of The Supremes.

It is scheduled to be released nationwide in August, her first movie role since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."

Music mogul Simon Cowell said Houston's death is one of those events where you remember what you were doing when you heard the news.

"It's that significant," he said. "I'm so sad for her. She was undoubtedly one of the greatest superstars of all time, one of the greatest voices in our lifetime we're likely ever to hear."

Adele's well and Grammy bound, singer tweets

Adele's vocal cords have healed from surgery in November, allowing the 23-year-old British songstress to perform on the Grammys stage next month, she and the Recording Academy confirmed Tuesday.

Adele let the big news out in a tweet: "Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait, speak soon xx"

Her "recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage" forced Adele to cancel her sold-out U.S. tour last October and she underwent laser microsurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in November.

"I'm immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year's Grammy Awards," Adele said in the official news release. "It's an absolute honor to be included in such a night, and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all."

There was uncertainty when the nominations were announced in late November if Adele's vocal cords would have healed enough to perform at the awards show, but it was clear producers wanted her.

Adele, who's already won two Grammys, is nominated for six new awards, including for record of the year, song of the year and best short form music video for "Rolling In The Deep;" album of the year and best pop vocal album for 21; and best pop solo performance for "Someone Like You."

Along with a "welcome back" to Adele, the 54th annual Grammys will include a "goodbye" performance by singer Glen Campbell.

Campbell, 75, launched his "Goodbye Tour" last year after revealing he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Campbell will be joined by current Grammy nominees Blake Shelton and The Band Perry for a live performance as part of a tribute to the five-time Grammy winner, the Recording Academy said.

Other previously announced Grammy performers include Jason Aldean onstage with Kelly Clarkson and Coldplay teaming with Rihanna. Also performing will be Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.

LL COOL J will host the live telecast on CBS startig at 8 p.m. Sunday, February 12.

Michael Jackson's kids immortalize dad's glove, footprints

Michael Jackson's oldest son, Prince, compared putting the singer's shoe and glove imprints in cement at Hollywood's Grauman's Chinese Theatre to accepting a Grammys lifetime achievement award two years ago on behalf of his late father.

"For me, and I think I speak for him as well, this right here is his lifetime achievement award," Prince Jackson said. "This is what he strived to get."

Prince and brother Blanket pressed a pair of their dad's shoes into wet cement, while sister Paris used one of his famous sequined gloves to create an impression. All three children added their own handprints in a ceremony on the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk Thursday.

"It's a very good celebration and I know if Michael was here he would agree, to see all his friends and loved ones, and especially his fans here to celebrate this with him," family matriarch Katherine Jackson said.

It was part of the promotion for Cirque du Soleil's "Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour," which makes its Los Angeles debut Friday night.

Quincy Jones, who produced Jackson's best-selling "Thriller" album, and Smokey Robinson, who called Jackson "my little brother," spoke, but there was little doubt Paris Jackson, 13, was most excited about her chance to introduce teen pop star Justin Bieber.

"I know my father would've wanted to be a mentor to someone like him, and would be very proud that he came to today's celebration," Paris Jackson said.

Michael Jackson is his role model, inspiring him to be the best he can be, Bieber said.

"I want to have that perfection, I want to, you know, be the best I can be, that's what Michael did," Bieber said. "He always wanted to be the best he could be."

Jackie Jackson said that a 300-pound block of cement with his brother's footprints and signature, found in the basement of a closed Las Vegas hotel just before it was torn down, would be placed on the Grauman's forecourt next to the imprints created Thursday. It was created in 1994 for a Las Vegas walk of fame project "that never materialized," he said.

"Michael, we miss you," brother Tito Jackson said. "There's hardly a day that goes by without him going on in mind somehow, some way, and I know that he is here today with us. That's for sure."

Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson have been more public in recent months in contrast to their lives before their father's 2009 death, when they were shielded from public view.

The children attended the Canadian premiere of the traveling Cirque du Soleil show with their grandmother in October.

The "Immortal" show is touring the United States and Canada through this year before taking up residency in Las Vegas.

Show biz legends who left their handprints and footprints in Grauman's concrete courtyard on Hollywood Boulevard include Fred Astaire, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Sidney Poitier, Clark Gable and Mary Pickford. The tradition started in 1928, a year after the historic theater opened.

Michael Jackson's Hollywood Walk of Fame star is on the sidewalk in front of the theater.

Uma Thurman Jokes About Twilight, Raves About Bel Ami Costar Robert Pattinson

It's safe to say Uma Thurman isn't exactly captain of Team Edward.

The 41-year-old actress plays Robert Pattinson's on-screen lover in Bel Ami, but that doesn't mean she's rushing to theaters to catch the newest Twilight film.

"To answer the ubiquitous question about this movie, yes, Robert is good-looking in person, but he doesn’t have that diamond-sparkle skin like in those Dracula movies," she tells Harper's Bazaar UK.

But even though Thurman isn't a Twi-hard, she can't say enough nice things about Pattinson, 25. "He's a very disciplined, very serious, very ambitious, very organized actor," she gushes.

As was mentioned in April, Justin Bieber is set to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in an as-yet-unnamed basketball drama.

But why did he cast the Biebs, who doesn’t have film acting experience? “Intuition,” Wahlberg tells MTV News.

Wahlberg, 40, made the amazing jump from fluffy hip-hop sensation to serious actor, and apparently he has faith that the 17-year-old entertainer can do the same.

"I see the guy and spent time with him, and you see what he does and how he does it, and then you actually have a conversation with him, and it's there,” Wahlberg said of the “Under the Mistletoe” singer. “And if not, I will extract it."

The sports movie centers on “an old guy and a young guy," and Wahlberg initially thought he was playing the younger role, even suggesting Robert De Niro as his co-star.

“And they go, 'What about Garrett Hedlund?'” he recalled of his conversation with Paramount. “I'm like, 'For what?' They're like, 'For the young guy.'"

Once he realized the casting criteria, Wahlberg opted for the baby-faced Canadian over the "Country Strong" star. "Wait till you see me and Bieber in the flick," the actor said. "Think of, like, 'The Color of Money.'"

Justin Bieber: I never believed in Santa

When it comes to Santa Claus, Justin Bieber was never a “Belieber.” The singer reveals in an interview with AOL Music that his mom, Pattie Mallette, saw to it that her son never believed in the bearded gift giver.

"My mom always told me there wasn't a Santa," he said. "This was her logic: She thought if I grew up knowing about Santa then finding out he wasn't real, that it would be like she was lying to me. And then when she told me about God, I maybe wouldn't believe her."

Bieber, a Christian, cites his mother’s decision to be "straight up and honest with me all the time."

Despite his grown-up understanding of Santa, Justin says he’s no Grinch. "I didn't tell my friends or ruin it for anyone - I was a good kid!" he tells AOL.
The 17-year-old says his holiday plans include heading back to his native Canada to have Christmas Eve dinner with his mom’s family. Then it’s over to dad's house on Christmas Day to hang out with his little siblings, Jazmyn, 3, and Jaxon, 2. “When it comes to my little sister and brother, I spoil them,” says the Biebs.

As for his own Christmas list, Justin admits there’s not much on it. "To be honest, I really don't have any Christmas wishes this year... I just wish to be happy and that everyone be healthy in my family," he says. "And I wish that everybody gets to hear my Christmas album – and hopefully like it!"

He may already have that last one in the bag: Justin’s new album “Under the Mistletoe” is the first Christmas album by a male artist to debut at No. 1 on the charts.

Sarah Jessica Parker: Kids can distract from marriage

According to Sarah Jessica Parker, "kids can really distract you from your relationship," as the 46-year-old mom of three told U.K. paper the Telegraph.

The actress is raising son James Wilkie, 8, and twins Tabitha and Loretta, 2, with husband Matthew Broderick. She adds, "Maybe in good ways and bad ways. It's important to have all eyes on all parts of the relationship."

She and Broderick, who've been together for 20 years, have had the same relationship bumps as everyone else: "You have good days, you have decent days, and you have bad days. That's a marriage. That's a relationship. That's a friendship, even - relationships outside the marriage run the same course."

And the more offspring you have, the more challenging things get. "Going from one to three children is a much bigger adjustment than becoming a mother in the first place," SJP says. "One child in retrospect seems a cake walk compared to where I stand today."
She may have more resources than most, but in the end, Parker’s still a worried mom. "Children provide a whole new set of concerns," the actress adds. "Who knows what I'll be insecure about next week?"

From the looks of “Jersey Shore’s” new season 5 promo, Snooki and Co. couldn’t be happier to be back in Seaside Heights.

All the culture and architectural history in Florence was really just holding them back last season.

And here’s a treat for viewers: In addition to “Shore’s” usual bar fights, fist pumps and binge drinking, the coming season features … wait for it … a surprise party, a milk fight and a giant bunny costume to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Back in October, we were privy to a sneak peak of what’s to come. So far we know Pauly D burns his face off at the tanning salon, Snooki thinks twice about wearing a pair of booty shorts with Jionni’s name on them and Ronnie blends one of his mystery shakes.

We also know that Vinny decides to take a break from Seaside at the start of the season. But speaking of Vinny, the budding actor is expanding his theatrical resume with a Syfy movie he should be able to relate to: "Jersey Shore Shark Attack."
Entertainment Weekly reports that Syfy's film will be set during a Fourth of July weekend at the Shore, when underwater drilling forces hordes of ticked off sharks to converge and start attacking people.

The cable channel has lined up quite a cast for this feature, including Paul Sorvino ("Goodfellas") to play the "possibly corrupt mayor"; Tony Sirico ("The Sopranos") to portray a "wise veteran of boardwalk...lore"; and 'N Sync's Joey Fatone, who'll play himself.

And Vin? He'll be portraying the on-scene reporter.

"Jersey Shore Shark Attack" is scheduled to air next summer, but before that, season 5 of the reality show will air on MTV January 5.

Tobey Maguire settles poker lawsuit

Tobey Maguire has settled a lawsuit that sought repayment of hundreds of thousands of dollars the "Spider-Man" actor allegedly won in secret high-stakes poker games at Beverly Hills luxury hotels, according to court documents filed last week.

A series of federal suits, including the one against Maguire, said the poker winnings were paid with funds stolen from investors who had been lured into an illegal Ponzi scheme.

Maguire agreed to pay $80,000 to the estate of Bradley Ruderman, 48, who is serving a 10-year federal prison sentence for tax, wire and investor advice fraud convictions. The judge will hold a hearing on December 21 to decide if he will approve the Maguire settlement.
The lawsuit against Maguire, filed in March, alleged that the actor won $311,000 from Ruderman in 2007 and 2008.

Actors Nick Cassavetes and Gabe Kaplan, along with professional poker player Dan Bilzerian, two nightclub owners and a Los Angeles lawyer, are among at least 10 other people sued by a bankruptcy trustee.

Most of the celebrity defendants have not publicly commented on the case, but Kaplan, the star of the 1970s TV sitcom "Welcome Back, Kotter," reached his own settlement in August.

Kaplan, whose poker skills are well known because of his frequent television appearances at professional gambling events, agreed to repay $27,000 of the $62,000 the trustee contended he was paid in gambling proceeds from the Ponzi scheme funds.

Lawsuits: Celebrities play high-stakes poker in hotels

None of the defendants in the civil lawsuits faced criminal charges, but the bankruptcy trustee for Ruderman's estate said they had to return at least $1.5 million of their alleged gambling winnings.

What each defendant allegedly has in common is that they beat Bradley Ruderman in "regularly held, high stakes and clandestine 'Texas Hold 'em' poker games" at hotels and homes in the Beverly Hills area.

Ruderman induced at least 22 victim-investors to give him approximately $44.3 million that was never invested, one lawsuit said. Ruderman, a Beverly Hills resident, used the money, in part, to cover his gambling losses, it said.

The suits say that the poker games were "exclusive events, by invitation only, and that there was a regular roster of players consisting of wealthy celebrities, entrepreneurs, attorneys and businessmen."

The games were also unlicensed and illegal, so "the player had no legally enforceable contractual right to receive payment," the suits said.

Bilzerian, a top professional poker player known as the "Blitz," beat Ruderman for $100,000, which the bankruptcy trustee wants back, court documents said.

There is no criminal investigation of the alleged gambling, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney said in June when the lawsuits were made public. "Gambling is illegal, but it's a misdemeanor," Sandi Gibbons said.

The court documents pull back the curtain a bit on what is mostly done behind closed doors by the wealthy and well-known in Beverly Hills.

The poker games were "held at luxury locations such as The Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California, the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and occasionally at private residences of the poker players," the lawsuits said.

None of the hotels would comment on the allegations when contacted by CNN.

The games were "arranged by Molly Bloom, initially (as) an assistant to one of the poker players and then as a stand-alone business," court documents said. Bloom arranged "food, alcohol and massages" for the players and "arranged for the settlement of gambling winnings and losses between and among the players."

Bloom, who is being sued by the trustee for $473,200, denied in a response to the court that she was involved in organized illegal gambling. She acknowledged, however, that she "performed services and received value from Ruderman in good faith in exchange for her services."

Bloom passed "a large percentage" of the money sent to her by Ruderman to "third parties," her response said.

Ruderman's Ponzi scheme spanned seven years, starting in 2002 and ending with an FBI investigation in 2009, according to court papers.

"To obtain investments in the fund, Ruderman misrepresented to potential investors that Lowell Milken (chairman of the Milken Family Foundation and younger brother of Michael Milken) and Larry Ellison (the CEO of Oracle Corporation) were investors in the funds," federal court documents said.

Ruderman provided false accounting statements claiming his hedge fund investments earned between 15% and 61% each year and were valued at more than $800 million, the documents said. "In reality, the funds lost millions of dollars over the years and had a net liquidation value of less than $650,000 at the end of 2008," documents said.

It was a year after the funds collapse in April 2009, and months after Ruderman pleaded guilty in January 2010, that the bankruptcy trustee discovered the large transfers of cash from the fund to pay his gambling debts, the lawsuits said.

Angelina Jolie on 60 Minutes: "I'm Still a Bad Girl"

The actress talks about her new film In the Land of Blood and Honey, which she directed, set during the war in Bosnia. "I didn't know it was going to be so sensitive," she said about the story, which details a love story between a Muslim woman and a Serbian jailer.

She also talks about her dream of being a funeral director. "It sounds like this very strange, eccentric, dark thing to do but in fact I lost my grandfather and was very upset with his funeral," she said. "If this whole acting thing didn't work out that was going to be my path."

But even as she discusses the tabloids and her family, our favorite soundbite has to come on while discussing her humanitarian efforts. Surely, all that good work means her dark side has receded, yes?

"I'm still a bad girl," she says. "I still have that side of me. It's just, it's in its place now. It belongs to Brad. Or it belongs to our adventures."

And that's one way to keep things interesting.
